The Annual Erasmus School of Economics Alumni day of 2025 was yet again a successful day full enjoyment, great discussions by Paul Notenboom and Stijn Hoorens. An informative Q&A with dr. Alexander Italianer, followed by good courses served by the staff of Excelsior.
The EFR's Inspiration Days was once again a successful part of the Erasmus School of Economics alumni day.
The Inspiration Days followed the theme "Dark Economy", this was introduced by Angela Me, followed by a Panel-discussion between Paul Notenboom and Stijn Hoorens. They both gave some interesting insights on the topic which were followed by some questions from the audience.
After the Panel-discussion, dr. Alexander Italianer was welcomed to the stage for a Q&A. Dr. Italianer is the former secretary General of the European Commission and shared some experiences from his time at the European Commission.
Afterwards there was the alumni dinner at Excelsior Stadium, hosted by the Erasmus School of Economics. The dinner was a memorable occasion for over 100 alumni who gathered to reconnect and celebrate their shared ties to their alma mater. The evening featured a creative and tasteful menu that complemented the event's festive atmosphere.
Throughout the evening, speeches were delivered by Dean Patrick Groenen, Erasmus Alumni Club President Willem-Jan Rote and Director Alumni Affairs & Development Charles Hermans. Dean Groenen reflected on the school's progress and future vision and amongst others: Long Life Learning and MentorMe programmes which the Erasmus School of Economics offers. President of the Erasmus Alumni Club Willem-Jan Rote, celebrated the strength and unity of the alumni network. The event, filled with both intellectual and culinary delights, was a testament to the lasting bond between the faculty and its alumni community.
When the guests heard, it might be their last alumni event with Charles as their host, a sense of disappointment spread through the room.
"I want to thank the Erasmus School of Economics and its Alumni for the joyful and fruitful 17 years at Alumni Affairs"
