Visiting Professor Michel Wedel, holder of the Henri Theil rotating Chair at Erasmus School of Economics, has won the 2019 Robert J. Lavidge Global Marketing Research Award. The American Marketing Association Foundation and the Robert J. Lavidge Global Marketing Research Award Committee distinguish Michel Wedel as a leader in marketing research/marketing insight and recognise his significant advancement in the field.
Michel Wedel is the Pepsico Chaired Professor of Consumer Science in the Department of Marketing, Robert H. Smith School of Business, at the University of Maryland. In 2018, he joined the Econometric Institute on the Henri Theil rotating Chair at Erasmus School of Economics. Earlier this year Wedel has also won the Buck Weaver Award and the 2019 AMA-Irwin-McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award.
Michel Wedel is one of the leading senior researchers in the field of Consumer Science, the application of statistical and econometric methods to further understanding of consumer behavior and to improve marketing decision-making. He is known for his work in the areas of market segmentation, advertising and promotions, visual marketing, multidimensional scaling, conjoint analysis, and big data analytics. He was ranked the number one marketing scholar in the world based on number of publications, third Marketing scholar in the world based on publication rate, the number one economist in the Netherlands, and the number one Netherlands marketing scholar based on number of publications.
As a recipient of the 2019 Robert J. Lavidge Global Marketing Research Award, Michel Wedel will receive recognition during AMA’s Marketing Week (30 September – 4 October).
