On Tuesday 15 October, the Iranian ambassador, Dr Alireza Kazemi Abadi, addressed students about the so called Iran nuclear deal in the aula. The deal was an agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme between Iran and China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States and Germany.
In the Iran nuclear deal is stated that Iran will minimise nuclear activity. The deal is at risk, since the US backed out last May. In his lecture, Dr Alireza Kazemi Abadi talked about the consequences. According to him the US president’s personal decision to re-impose sanctions against the Islamic Republic after withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal undermines trust in international treaties and organisations.
At the end of the lecture students had the opportunity to ask questions. They seemed mostly interested in the relationship between Iran and other countries and asked the ambassador about his view on the future of the worldwide negotiations.
