Inaugural lecture of Frank van Oort, as endowed professor of Urban and Regional Economics

On Friday, 23 November 2018, Professor Frank van Oort will give his inaugural lecture as endowed professor of Urban and Regional Economics (Stedelijke en Regionale Economie) . His lecture is titled: “Policy in Urban and Regional Economics” . The lecture starts at 16:00 in the Aula (Erasmus Building), and will be held in English. Attendance of colleagues is highly appreciated.

Since his appointment as endowed professor, Frank van Oort has continued his existing research lines and joined the research and education programmes of IHS and Erasmus School of Economics. He is also a research fellow at Tinbergen Institute. His own research covers a wide range of specialisations within urban and regional economics: agglomeration benefits, evolutionary economic geography, housing market, knowledge production, economic networks, knowledge economy, district and community research, trade and FDI, urban networks, urban geography, European regional development, urban development in China, and spatial planning. He regularly publishes articles on these subjects in international journals and specialist literature. Van Oort combines more fundamental research with applied and policy-oriented research. For example, besides NWO and EU funded research, he also conducts research for Ministries, cities and regions.
