Erasmus School of Economics starts Online Master in Marketing and Data Intelligence

As of September 2025, Erasmus School of Economics will offer the new, fully Online Master in Marketing and Data Intelligence. Over 24 months, students can have the benefits of studying flexibly online, but with the same qualification and quality of learning as an on-campus student.

The Online Master in Marketing and Data Intelligence is especially developed for marketers who want to sharpen their analytical skills, and for marketing analysts who want to create business value through data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The study integrates methodological and marketing expertise with the latest knowledge of data science, econometrics, and AI, while taking in the latest business and strategic perspectives.

Translating data language into marketing language

The aim of this programme is to create a generation of specialised marketers who can bridge the gap between marketing and data science and solve complex marketing challenges by using computational approaches and techniques, advanced analytics, and data science. The programme uses a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to the use of data and AI for marketing using advanced methodologies, and students benefit from studying at a world-class university.

‘Understanding data and AI is a most important skill in business and in marketing. There are many data scientists, and there are many marketeers. But there aren’t many professionals with both sets of skills and knowledge, and it’s this new demand for skilled professionals who can achieve marketing intelligence through data intelligence that is reshaping workforce dynamics,’ says Bas Donkers, Professor of Marketing Research at Erasmus School of Economics.

In the first year, students will start with a solid foundation in marketing, data, and AI followed by two courses that take a deep dive into machine learning and into marketing strategy.  The courses in the second year build on this foundation with more in-depth and integrative content, on topics like omnichannel marketing, experimentation, and personalisation.

The online learning experience incorporates a big element of human touch. As the classroom is a global one, interaction with diverse cohorts from all over the world is also part of the experience. Online students also have access to many support services such as dedicated study advisors, the online library, online events, and networking opportunities.
