Alumnus Matthijs Visch has recently been appointed as CEO of De Bijenkorf, the countries largest luxury department store. His appointment was covered in a recent edition of Het Financieele Dagblad.

Visch obtained his Master's degree in economics in 1997, during his studies he became a member of student association Laurentius. According to an old study friend his enthousiasm and friendliness made sure he quickly obtained a large network. After his studies he started at Procter & Gamble after which he continued as a strategic planner at Nike, which would mark the beginning of a very fruitful career.

After traveling the world for Nike together with his family, Visch left Nike for a 2 year stint at Patagonia. After his parents had fallen ill, he took a sabbatical to focus on taking care of his aging parents. Because "His family will always be his number one priority", as one of his best friends said.

Now he will lead De Bijenkorf and will try to do what he has always done during his professional career: fulfill the potential of the company and the people at De Bijenkorf.

The appointment of Matthijs Visch is another testament to the ambitious spirit of Erasmus School of Economics and the city of Rotterdam. With many top professionals being Erasmus University alumni, Rotterdam remains one of the biggest suppliers of talent to the world of business.
