Efstratia Arampatzi and Martijn Hendriks win prizes in ISQOLS best dissertation award

Researchers Efstratia Arampatzi and Martijn Hendriks of the Erasmus Happiness Economics Research Organisation (EHERO) have won the second prizes in the 2019 Best Dissertation Award of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS). The awards are to be presented on 7 September at the ISQOLS conference in Granada, Spain.

Multiple chapters of both dissertations have already been published in peer-reviewed academic journals. Martijn’s dissertation, with the title “Migrant happiness: Insights into the broad well-being outcomes of migration and its determinants” was supervised by Prof. Harry Commandeur and Dr Martijn Burger. Efstratia’s dissertation, titled “Times of Crisis: Evidence on the wider impact of economic crises and turmoil on subjective well-being” was supervised by Prof. Harry Commandeur, Prof. Frank van Oort, and Dr Martijn Burger.                                   

ISQOLS is an international society of scholars researching quality of life and well-being. A panel of experts reviewed and selected the prizewinning dissertations which were defended in the period 2016-2018 were eligible.
