EFR visit Hapag LLoyd in Hamburg

The EFR Master Study Board for Urban, Port & Transport (UPT) visited the industrious and port-based city of Hamburg. Upon arrival, they visited one of the biggest shipping and container transportation companies in the world: Hapag-Lloyd. They got an insightful presentation about the operations of the company, but also about their efforts of exploring more sustainable solutions to do business in the shipping sector.

The students posed questions that started great conversations about the future of Hapag-Lloyd. The CEO, Erasmus School of Economics alumnus (1991) Rolf Habben Jansen, contributed to the visit of EFR at the fifth largest shipping company in the world for the third year in a row, providing impressive insights to the students of Erasmus School of Economics.

The next day, EFR did an interesting walking tour through Hamburg-HafenCity, one of the biggest urban developmental projects in Hamburg. The students learnt more about what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to urban planning. Moreover, a boat tour brought the students passed grandiose vessels in the harbour. The EFR Master Study Board for UPT concluded the trip with an enjoyable dinner and cheerful drinks to reminisce about all that they have seen and learned about the great city of Hamburg.
