  In Memoriam Paula Valevičiūtė 21 August 1997 – 19 February 2018

It is with great sadness that the Management Team of Erasmus School of Economics informs you about the death of student Paula Valevičiūtė (20) on Monday 19 February 2018. The family has stated that Paula, who suffered from acute leukaemia, was very determined to overcome the disease and remained strong until the very last day.

In 2015 Paula Valevičiūtė started in the International Bachelor Economics & Business Economics study programme. In addition to her studies she was actively involved in among other things organizing the Social Entrepreneurship Masterclass, an event of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship. Being a socially conscious student Paula became active in the Eastern European Student Association of Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2016. As a student ambassador of Lithuania, she was proud to be the voice of Lithuanian students and enjoyed being responsible for maintaining the warm ties with the Embassy of Lithuania in the Netherlands, Last year Paula focused on gaining work experience. In Lithuania she did two internships, recently as a Tax intern at PWC.

A fellow student heartwarmingly describes Paula as an incredibly energetic person: ‘She was always able to lighten up the mood and had the most contagious laughter. In addition, Paula was an extremely determined person who never took anything for granted and consistently worked for what she wanted, always seeking improvement. She was always trying to live her life to the fullest, constantly trying to learn more and see as much of the world as possible.’
