Economic success for Ajax after Champions League adventure?

After many successes this season, Ajax' adventures in the Champions League came to an end on Wednesday. On May 10, Professor in Applied Economics at Erasmus School of Economics, Jan van Ours, talked about Ajax' success and the economic effects it had on the Dutch football club.

According to Jan van Ours, Champions League semi-finalist Ajax had the chance to pick up 15 million euros by reaching the Champions League final in Madrid. Unfortunately, Tottenham Hotspur won the teams' semi-final in the last minute. Despite Ajax' loss, the team managed to bring in at least 90 million euros from European football body UEFA and ticket revenues.
