Alumnus Vincent Karremans sworn in as State Secretary for Youth, Prevention and Sport

Vincent Karremans (1986), Alumnus of both Erasmus School of Economics and Erasmus School of Law, has been sworn in as State Secretary for Youth, Prevention and Sport in the new right-wing cabinet of Prime Minister Dick Schoof. On Tuesday 2 July 2024, Karremans pledged before King Willem-Alexander to perform his duties ‘honestly, diligently and impartially’.

Born in Rotterdam, Vincent Karremans is a Dutch politician. He is a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and was until recently involved in Rotterdam's local politics, where he served in various roles within the city council. 

In 2021, Karremans was appointed as an alderman for Rotterdam, responsible for areas including public order, safety, and port affairs. His work focused on improving the city's safety, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

Karremans pursued higher education at both Erasmus School of Economics and Erasmus School of Law. In a double degree programme, he obtained a master’s degree in economics (Financial Economics) in 2011 and a master’s degree in law (Corporate Law) in 2012. 

Vincent Karremans is also known as founder of Magnet.me, a networking platform for students and young professionals to connect with potential employers.
