Inequality within and across generations

The Erasmus University, Rotterdam Campus

Opportunities to be economically successful in life are not always equally distributed among individuals. Which factors determine inequality in economic opportunities, and what role is there for policy to enhance equality of opportunity? On Thursday 9 and Friday 10 June Erasmus School of Economics, organizes a workshop on this topic, in collaboration with CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis.

On Thursday and Friday morning, various national and international academic experts will present their work on the causes and mechanisms underlying (in)equality. The workshop includes two keynote lectures by leading experts Prof. Nathan Hendren (Harvard University) and Prof. Deborah Cobb-Clark (University of Sydney).

The presentations of academic findings will be followed by a round table discussion on Friday afternoon, where academic experts and policy makers from various ministries and the city of Rotterdam will discuss which policy measures can help to improve equality of opportunity.
