This presentation will provide an overview of my research related to criminal activity and the perception of safety in France. The French context will be depicted through an initial project that explores safety perception following victimization incidents.
However, our main focus will be on the introduction of a preliminary project about the direct and indirect impact of digital platforms on crime. With this project, we aim to explore how emerging employment models, such as app-based work, can impact the socio-economic dynamics and crime in cities. To conduct this research, we plan to exploit temporal and geographical variation in the introduction of digital platforms in different cities in France.
