Economic crisis, unemployment and health

Title: Economic crisis, unemployment and health

Supervisor: Pilar García-Gómez

Project Description

There is a large literature that documents that worsening economic conditions are associated with reduced mortality and improved health. This association is typically found using aggregate data, and the behavioral response to an economic crisis might be different for individuals still employed compared to those that lose their job. The goal of this project is to investigate what is the magnitude of these heterogeneous responses using individual data.
