Application deadlines

  • 1 March 2025 for non-EU/EEA students
  • 1 April 2025 for EU/EEA students

Interested Erasmus MC students of Medicine that seem good candidates for our program at the interview but have no experience in doing biomedical research, e.g. obtained by participating in the minor Biomedical Research in Practice, will be invited to take an entrance exam. Therefore, students of Medicine that are interested in our program are advised to participate in a biomedical research-oriented minor during bachelor 3 of the medical curriculum, to enhance their chance of admission and without having to take the entrance exam.

Selected Erasmus MC students of Medicine are advised to first complete year 1 of the MSc Molecular Medicine program, then participate in the full program of the Master of Medicine and subsequently complete year 2 of the MScMM program. Upon graduation, you may get the chance to continue a scientific career as a PhD student.

Exemption
Medical students that are taking part in the MSc Molecular Medicine program will be exempt from the medical master electives (keuze-onderzoek, 30 EC points), provided that they successfully finish the first research project within the MSc Molecular Medicine Program.

Prospective international or Dutch students should have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent level of training in the life sciences, such as biology, biomedical sciences, medicine, nanobiology, biotechnology or related fields.

BASc students in Biomedical Lab Techniques, from the Hogeschool Rotterdam or other relevant higher vocational training program (HBO) within The Netherlands, may apply. In addition to the general selection criteria, a letter of reference from your mentor is required and students that seem good candidates for our program at the interview will be invited to take an entrance exam.

MSc students in Biotechnology and Molecular Life Sciences from Wageningen University are offered the possibility to specialize in ‘Molecular Medicine’. This is a joint program between Wageningen University and Erasmus MC. Students will graduate in Wageningen.

Interested students can contact the MSc Biotechnology coordinator, Dr. Sonja Isken at Wageningen University.
