Discussion Evening with Scientists and Porn Actors
Two hands holding two lemons next to each other

Hot Scientists In Your Area Are Looking for You! From sexy MILFs to slutty schoolgirls, or plumbers to pizza delivery boys: pornography is saturated with social stereotypes. But why? Do these stereotypes evoke pleasure? Is this pleasure universal? And what is the relationship between explicit sexual content and our own views on sexuality?

Join us for an evening of thought-provoking talks, discussions, and experiments as we dive into these questions together with researchers from the PORN-TYPES project as well as porn actors.

During the evening:

  • Samira van Bohemen, lead of the project, will tell all there is to know about pornographic stereotypes. She will explore their role in sexual arousal and the significance of researching porn from an academic perspective
  • Live experiments: Lena van de Lande will introduce the Pornfession Booth, in which attendees of this year’s Lowlands music festival secretly shared their porn preferences. Moreover, Michael Giffin will present the ‘Sexperiment’ that was conducted at the festival, demonstrating how sexual stereotypes manifest in our bodies.
  • Porn actors EslunaLove and Marvin will give insights from the production side of pornography. How do they experience the industry and its demands?
  • Olga Lyashevska from the Netherlands eScience Center will reveal the statistics behind porn use. Spotify Wrapped, but for sites like PornHub. What does the metadata of these online webpages reveal to us about the prevalence of stereotypes within porn?

This event is organized by Studium Generale in collaboration with the Erasmus Love Lab and the Student Wellbeing Week.
