Programmes with limited places – numerus fixus

Because of their popularity, some bachelor’s programmes are oversubscribed. For these programmes a quota has been set for the number of students who can be allocated a place. This is known as a 'numerus fixus'.

Bachelor’s programmes with a numerus fixus 2025-2026

Maximum of programmes

You can choose to register for up to two study programmes with numerus fixus per academic year. You can register twice for the same study programme at two different universities. Medicine is an exception to this rule. For medicine, you are limited to selecting one university only.

Maximum of attempts

The amount of attempts to be selected for a programme with numerus fixus differs per study programme. In principle, you can participate up to a maximum of three times, but some programmes adhere to a maximum of one or two. A registration request that is (or has been) active after January 15 will be registered as a spent selection attempt and will count towards this number. Studielink shows how many selection attempts you have made.

Registration for academic year 2025-2026

You can register via Studielink from 1 October 2024. The final registration date for numerus fixus programmes is 15 January 2025**. The universities start their selection procedure after this point. If there are fewer registrations than available places, no selection will take place

Result

The result of the decentralised selection will be announced after 15 April 2025.** You will receive the result via Studielink.

** The above-stated dates are based on academic year 2024-2025 and are subject to possible amendments by the government.
