Biography
Dr. Lasse Gerrits is an associate professor at the Department of Public Administration and member of the research group Governance of Complex Systems.
He worked as a researcher and consultant at TNO Built Environment & Geosciences prior to joining this department in 2008. He specializes in urban planning and infrastructure development. His theoretical focus is on the development and application of complexity theory in researching public decision making processes.
He was awarded an NWO Veni research grant for excellent young researchers in 2010.
He initiated and organized the first Dutch conference on complexity theory and Public Administration in 2004 and an international conference on the same topic in 2011.
Away from university, he is co-owner of the Betontoon record label and the Platform for Avantgarde and Urban Media Explorations, an art group that curates events and exhibitions. He also writes about art and the urban at PaumeOpent extern
He is currently involved in the following research projects: - 'Craving Simplicity' (NWO Veni research) - 'Evaluating MIRT Practices (NGI, project leader) - 'Institutional Flexibility in Port Development (NGI) - 'Integrale Planvorming en Ontwikkeling Delta' (NWO)
