SSH

Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) offers accommodation at the accommodation provider SSH for 550 of our yearly incoming international students. These rooms are reserved for first year international Bachelor, (Pre-)Master or Exchange students for the maximum rental period of 12 months.

SSH will handle the whole process – from making a room reservation to payments. But certainly EUR is constantly in touch with SSH ‘behind the scenes’ to make sure the quality and services level remain high.

After you register with SSH, your housing application is automatically sent to your faculty’s contact person. They will review your application, usually on a first-come, first-served basis, to decide if you are eligible for the accommodation reserved by Erasmus University. Keep in mind that your faculty may also use other criteria to approve students.

Each program at Erasmus University Rotterdam has a limited number of spots for students. We cannot approve more students than there are available rooms. So, even if you see available rooms, if your status is “on hold” or “for approval,” your faculty may not be able to approve your registration. The remaining rooms are reserved for students from other faculties.

If your status is “for approval” or “on hold”, it means you have been placed on a waiting list, even if you registered when the form first opened. This means you cannot book a room yet.

Once your application status changes to "Approved," you can book a room. You will have 3 days to book an available room. If you do not book a room within this 3-day window, your approval will be withdrawn, and your status will change to "Not Approved."

If you still want a room through SSH after this, you can update your “Not Approved” registration and click “Save.” Your registration will then be marked as "for approval" again, and you will be placed on the waiting list.

We have reserved 167 rooms at SSH exclusively for our Spring exchange students.
