Erasmus Commodity & Trade Centre (ECTC) is an international platform for generating ideas and nurturing talent for a sustainable commodity trading future by focusing on three strategic pillars: academic education, executive education and research. ECTC is part of the Erasmus University Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
The trade of tomorrow
Rotterdam has trading in its DNA. It was the merchant community that founded the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Commodity trading continues to be important to the port city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Europe as a whole. In today’s dynamic business environment, shaped by technological innovation, geopolitics, and the pursuit of sustainability, ECTC, together with its international academic, industry and government partners will focus on: what can we do locally to have impact globally? ECTC provides opportunities for young talent, trains and connects the next generation of business leaders and develops strategic thought leadership on the future of the commodity trading industry.
Erasmus University Rotterdam
ECTC is part of the Erasmus Centre for Urban, Port and Transport Economics (Erasmus UPT), an education and research company at Erasmus University Rotterdam, specialised in urban economics, port and logistics, and transport and mobility. The founding of ECTC in 2023 was driven by the growing recognition for the need to build educational programmes and research capabilities that bridge theory and practice on commodity trading.
