mr.dr. C (Carinne) Elion - Valter

Biography

Carinne Elion-Valter focuses on analyzing law in its cultural and historical (history of ideas) and literary context (Law and Literature, Law and the Humanities). Her main research objective is to provide insight in the structures of belief underlying legitimacy. She is influenced by the work of Ricoeur, Gabriel Marcel and other modernist French philosophers of the phenomenological and hermeneutical tradition. For her thesis on the credibility of the idea of Law and the Rule of Law she analyzed the biblical fragment of Doubting Thomas and French literary texts by among others Hugo, Cocteau, Blanchot and Tournier. Topics of interest are Law and Reglision, Legal Tradition, empathy, modernity and postmodernity, quality of legislation and the Rule of Law in public/private settings.
