Biography

Carinne Elion-Valter focuses on analyzing issues of legitimacy and belief with respect to law and legal institutions using insights from rhetorics, the history of ideas, Law and Literature and critical theory. Her approach is critical and hermeneutical, using insights from Ricoeur and Marcel and other modernist French philosophers of the phenomenological and hermeneutical tradition. Recently she published on AI. She is interested in the perception of AI and myths behind it, like the Golem. For her thesis on the credibility of the idea of Law and the Rule of Law she analyzed the biblical fragment of Doubting Thomas and French literary texts by among others Hugo, Cocteau, Blanchot and Tournier.
