Time has arrived to tackle inequality between employed and self-employed individuals

Alumnus Laura van Geest, Director of Central Planning Bureau in the Netherlands, has spoken out about the unequal treatment of employees and freelancers when it comes to taxes and social insurance. She believes that after the elections of 2017, when the winning parties will form their coalition, this should be a priority. CPB investigated when such reform would be most succesful, as for other issues political parties are concerned with. Van Geest says that the current Cabinet, had prepared the framework for reform in the different treatments between employees and self-employed individuals.
