Erasmus School of Economics has granted first year bachelor student Anya Shichkina with the Philip Hans Franses Scholarship, named after our emeritus Dean and eminent econometrician, Professor Philip Hans Franses.
Anya Shichkina impressed the scholarship selection committee with outstanding study results and a strong drive to improve herself and to help others improve too. The coming years, Anya will be an ambassador for the values represented by the Philip Hans Franses Scholarship: to bring out the best in yourself and to make a difference.
The reaction of Franses: ‘I am pleasantly surprised that this scholarship bears my name. But more importantly, I am very pleased that Erasmus School of Economics financially supports a talented student like Anya through this scholarship!’
About the Philip Hans Franses Scholarship
This unique scholarship entails that for the duration of the bachelor studies the recipient receives a waiver of the tuition fee, meaning that the student will only have to pay the low statutory fee. The scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area, who have achieved excellent study results during their secondary school education. As a token of appreciation, the scholarship is named after Professor Philip Hans Franses, who dedicated 12 years of his career to leading Erasmus School of Economics. On 31 January 2019, he stepped down as dean but has continued to be both Professor of Applied Econometrics and Professor of Marketing Research.
