Public Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam is number 1 in this year’s Subject Rankings of The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking. The team also achieved first place in 2017 and 2018. This recognition highlights their exceptional focus on rigorous, innovative, and engaged research.
The ARWU (Annual Subject Ranking) evaluate universities based on criteria such as the number of scientific articles in the field of study, the impact of publications, international collaboration, international academic organisational leadership, the number of chief editors of international scholarly journals, the number of publications in top journals in the field (journals listed by the Shanghai Ranking), highly cited researchers, and staff winning significant awards.
Public Administration at Erasmus University has been ranked in the top five for several years—and since 2017 and 2018, it has once again reached the very top. In these turbulent and uncertain times for universities in the Netherlands, this achievement is a great recognition of the work of all the researchers within the team.
