Maarten Kroeze appointed as vice president of the Dutch Supreme Court

As of 1 January 2022, Maarten Kroeze is appointed as vice president of the Dutch Supreme Court. In 2016, Kroeze joined the Civil Law Chambre of the Supreme Court as a counsellor. In addition to his appointment at the Supreme Court, Kroeze will remain active as a Professor of Corporate Law at Erasmus School of Law, the School he has been a part of for over seventeen years.

Before coming to Rotterdam in 2004, he worked as Assistant Professor of Trade and Corporate Law at the University of Utrecht and as a lawyer at Pels Rijcken & Droogleever Fortuijn. He has been a Professor of Corporate Law at Erasmus School of Law for over seventeen years, which he will remain during his vice presidency at the Supreme Court. Previously, he was the Vice Dean of Research (2007-2009) and Dean of our law school (2009-2013).

Kroeze is looking forward to his new role at the Supreme Court: “The Dutch Supreme Court fulfils an important task in our constitutional state. It is an honour and pleasure to be able to contribute to this.”
