The Erasmus University also pays attention to the position of women on International Women's Day on Friday 8 March. Under the motto 'Inspire, Connect and Celebrate Women', the university organizes a quiz with lunch. The heroines of Erasmus University have passed the revu on Facebook in recent weeks.
In the run-up to Friday 8 March, female scientists were highlighted as an inspiring example in recent weeks.
Studium Generale and Aiesec show the film Girl Rising the evening before International Women's Day, with the life stories of nine women who are fighting for freedom and education. Afterwards there will be a discussion with Mansi Jasuja, specialist in capacity building and gender empowerment, led by Erasmus Magazine editor-in-chief Wieneke Gunneweg. The event is now fully booked.
The proceeds of the lunch contribution on Friday 8 March will be donated to the project 'Fiets Mee!'. This project works to promote bicycle use for women in the South. Cycling enlarges the world of experience and offers tools for independent activities. This means that 'Bike with me' has an empowering function. Teun van Kolner graduated from Utrecht University.
Diversity and inclusion is one of the spearheads of the EUR policy. The celebration of IWD fits in well with this.
