As of 1 April 2018 Professor Enrico Pennings is appointed as Vice Dean and as Director of Research at Erasmus School of Economics. Recently the School Council has approved of the appointment.
Creating this new position of Vice Dean has everything to do with the upcoming mid-term review research by the end of 2018 and the five priorities the Management Team of Erasmus School of Economics has defined as a follow up on the IPRC report and national research evaluation of economics and business:
- Place more emphasis on producing excellent papers;
- develop stronger ties with leading schools;
- Increase the appeal of the doctoral education;
- Increase attention for the societal relevance of our research;
- Increase the amount of external funding obtained.
Enrico Pennings: ‘This exciting new position will further facilitate our school’s answers to major societal challenges and take research at Erasmus School of Economics to a next level.’
With the subsequent appointment of Prof. Enrico Pennings the Management Team feels confident that it has found an excellent candidate to execute these priorities and to prepare the School for the mid-term review research. Dean Prof. Philip Hans Franses: ‘In his role as Director of the Applied Economics Department Enrico Pennings has proven to be an excellent manager. He is able to make a decision, create support for his decisions and communicate clearly about this. Furthermore, he knows how to achieve results. These are all excellent qualities for a vice Dean of Research.’
