The EFR/Eenvandaag election debate 2023 will be held on Monday, 20 November 2023. This event, set in Rotterdam Ahoy, will feature six prominent political leaders from the Netherlands who will engage in debates on various societal issues as they compete for votes in the upcoming Dutch parliamentary elections on Wednesday, 22 November. The debate is a recurring event organised every election by Erasmus School of Economics’ school association EFR and the current affairs television programme EenVandaag.
Erasmus School of Economics takes pride in the fact that the EFR/Eenvandaag election debate is organised by and for students. Tickets to attend the debate live can be purchased on www.efr.nl/debat.
The debate will be between the leaders of six Dutch prominent political parties. Dilan Yesilgöz (VVD), Frans Timmermans (GroenLinks/PvdA), Geert Wilders (PVV), Rob Jetten (D66), Pieter Omtzigt (NSC) and Caroline van der Plas (BBB). These political leaders will discuss topics on immigration, climate change, the economy and socio-economic security.
Rotterdam Ahoy
A unique character of the EFR/Eenvandaag election debate is its focus on students. The debate will be broadcasted live on NPO 1, but the physical audience only consists of students who attend tertiary education in the Netherlands. Students from different educational backgrounds will have a voice in the short videos introducing the debates.
For the first time in the history of the EFR/Eenvandaag election debate, the event will be held at Rotterdam Ahoy. This allows the school’s association to enable more students to become involved in politics. Rotterdam Ahoy namely has a larger capacity than the auditorium of the university. Thereby. the debate is in line with the university's strategy to make a positive societal impact.
Popular event
The significance of the event can easily be deducted from the rate at which the tickets are being sold. Already on the first day the ticket sale went live, more than half of the available tickets were sold. Hence, if you are interested in attending this unique debate, do not hesitate to get a ticket at www.efr.nl/debat. EFR and Erasmus School of Economics are eagerly looking forward to the debate and hope to see many students there!
