Dennis Fok new director Econometric Institute

Professor Dennis Fok has been appointed the new director of the Econometric Institute (department of Econometrics) of Erasmus School of Economics with effect from 1 May 2020. He succeeds Prof. Patrick Groenen, who becomes dean on the same date.

Patrick Groenen: ‘It has been a privilege to work with the dedicated colleagues of the Econometric Institute. In my period as a director, we were able to grow as a result of increasing student numbers. Recruitment on the international job market has allowed us to increase the diversity in staff composition. The synergy within the department has been very stimulating for me. I am happy that Dennis Fok is willing to succeed me as a director. At various levels, he has ample experience to shape the strategy of the Econometric Institute. I am confident that he will take good care of the department and the staff.’

Dennis Fok thanks his predecessor for all his good work and the strong position of the Econometric Institute, on which he can built upon. Fok: ‘The history of the institute shows an impressive list of directors. It is an honor for me to become part of this list. The institute is in a great shape with high quality faculty and staff and smart students. I especially appreciate the team spirit in the institute. I thank Patrick Groenen for all his efforts. I am confident that we can seize future possibilities and tackle any challenge as a team. I am looking forward to the upcoming period!’
