Below is a brief of the dissertation:

Adversity is a common part of life, yet its consequences can be significant for children and adults alike. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate three broad themes around adversity – 1) when and where adversity occurs; 2) what is its impact on mental health and behaviour and 3) through what mechanisms does it operate? As adversity is the largest modifiable risk factor for health outcomes, this thesis seeks to inform a more targeted and equitable healthcare for vulnerable individuals.
