The cultural domain is evolving quickly due to digital technologies. There are many incredible efforts to preserve (the understanding of) our culture and heritage and bring it to the digital era. The digital transformation in the arts and cultural sector continues to fundamentally change the creative processes and engagement within cultural activities.

Limitless opportunities brought by data, and developments in technologies, such as AI, AR and XR, bring cultural heritage back to life and create new opportunities for creating pieces of art. Through virtual museums, visitors have the possibility to experience artwork in a different context and interact with objects or locations that are otherwise inaccessible to the public. These tech developments result in easier online access to cultural experiences and art for a wide audience and create new business model opportunities. Developments such as generative AI also pose new challenges to the sector, such as protecting copyright issues and re-inventing the creative process of art itself.
