About the event

This event consists of an exiting programme to get you the information and inspiration you need to kick-start your career in NL. You will learn if rules and regulations apply to you when starting a career in NL. You will receive valuable tips and tricks from our experts as well as our alumni who have taken this career path before and found jobs or started businesses. You will also get a chance to talk to them during the networking drinks or ask questions during the panel session. And, of course, our experts will help you plan your journey on the Dutch labour market and entrepreneurial scene.

Get to know our speakers

Luuk is an experienced tour guide and comedian. Commissioned by Vrije University Amsterdam he has developed a new keynote performance named  ‘The Story of the NL’ in which he uses Dutch history to explain the society we live in today. His keynote speech is both information dense and funny. In just 20 minutes he will make you see the Netherlands in a new light.

Martijn has been advising businesses and entrepreneurs throughout his career and in 2020 joined RVO. Their Netherlands Point of Entry serves as the initial gateway for international talent seeking to work or establish a business in the Netherlands. During his session, Martijn will inform you about ‘Starting your career in the Netherlands’ after graduation and show you how RVO supports global talent and inspires you with the opportunities available in the Netherlands.

Nikola works as a career advisor with a focus on international students at Erasmus University Rotterdam as part of the Career Services team. Originally from the Czech Republic and having studied in Denmark, she is eager to help international students feel at home in the Netherlands by supporting them in building a solid foundation to achieve their career goals.

Entrepreneurial fun is Liesje’s passion. In her current role at Erasmus Enterprise, she loves to work with students on building their own businesses. Erasmus Enterprise has programmes like the Erasmus University Challenge where students can develop their entrepreneurial skills, learn from coaches and set up their own businesses. She has a commercial background in fast moving commercial goods like NIVEA, Douwe Egberts and Max Factor and is currently training for her first marathon.

Paul is a student at EUR and Ambassador for the Strategic Entrepreneurship programme at RSM. This year he is also the President of ESN-Rotterdam and works as a freelancer in the field of public speaking & event hosting. He has grabbed the opportunity to play a role in hosting various events in Rotterdam, such as Eurekaweek, EURvision, Upstream Festival, etc.

Karen has worked in internationalization in higher education in various roles since the start of her career. She joined the EUR Alumni Team in 2020 and transitioned to the EUR – International Office in 2023. She enjoys inspiring students to expand their horizons both during and after their studies and has been a speaker about career development in many national and international events. For this event she is keen to give other experts the floor to inspire you.
