Art reminds us of the value of openness, tolerance, and the right to express ourselves authentically. In a world increasingly characterized by polarization and social pressure, the message of Cobra is more relevant than ever. How can we, like the Cobra artists, create space for different ideas and voices in an increasingly complex society?

Cobra artworks from the Lapré Collection

This exhibition is curated with Cobra artworks from the Lapré Collection and the Art Collection of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The exhibition includes works by Cobra artists Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Eugène Brands, Constant, Corneille, Jacques Doucet, Lucebert, Carl-Henning Pedersen, Anton Rooskens, Asger Jorn and Theo Wolvecamp.

The exhibition also includes Cobra-context photographs by photographer Nico Koster and three-dimensional artworks by Gerti Bierenbroodspot and Jan Verschoor. The artworks from the Lapré Collection are being offered to the university by Ruud and Marga Lapré, along with other works. The donation strengthens the link between art and knowledge and contributes to the preservation of Erasmus' values: freedom of thought and tolerance.
