The Erasmus School of Philosophy offers you the unique opportunity to double your bachelor degree by partaking in the Bachelor in Philosophy of a Specific Discipline programme (90 ECTS).

Have you been considering to double your degree, but haven't you quite figured out how? Why? Or in what discipline? If so, visit one of our four upcoming information events on the Bachelor in Philosophy of a Specific Discipline!

Why philosophy?

With another discipline such as law, medicine or even something more intangible like history, it is more easily seen how you could develop specific skillsets that are of (more) practical use in your lives. Philosophy might not come up naturally when considering a second degree; it does not immediately show its practical value. You might even be inclined to think that it has none.

Nothing, however, could be less true!

Philosophy has the advantage of providing you with both a new skillset applicable to all aspects of your life (yes, including your personal life!), and a deepening of the skillset you are already developing within your main programme. Indeed, philosophy adds to your academic, professional and personal development in a way no other discipline will!

Content of the event

In our information event, we will clarify how an education in philosophy adds to all aspects of your study. We will  have a member of our academic staff giving a short introduction on the relationship between philosophy and other academic disciplines and the value added by conceptual orientation and moral evaluation.

Thereafter, he or she will explain the unique 90 ECTS structure of the Bachelor in Philosophy of a Specific Discipline to you.

Then, one of our BPSD students will speak on his or her experience in partaking in the programme.

Finally, one of our professional staff members will conclude by directly addressing the question of what philosophy might mean for your academic, professional and personal development, before inviting you to the Q&A.
