The master in Health Care Management trains students for management positions in the health care sector. The master combines business economics, financial management, human resource management, logistics management, information management, performance management and strategic management perspectives. To finish the Health Care Management master programme, students must write a thesis about a subject that fits within these perspectives. Within this context, students can carry out a final research project for and/or at an institution. The problem definition must be suitable for scientific research.
Period and study load
The thesis has a study load of 420 hours (15 ECTS). During the first trimester of the academic year (September, October) the graduation subjects are collected and students have the opportunity to register for a particular subject. In early December the student starts on the thesis. The actual collection of data takes place between February and May. The student can then graduate in June.
Supervision
The thesis education is provided in groups (of no more than five students). Each group focuses on one subject, but within this subject each student develops a sub-aspect into an independent thesis. If several students conduct research at the same institution, they are obviously expected to coordinate their activities. The graduation supervisor is usually someone from ESHPM. In some cases, however, it can also be someone from your institution. In the latter case, a co-reader from ESHPM will always be involved in the thesis group.
