The end of summer brought with it three new Programme Directors within Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management. For a four-year term, they will lead the bachelor's programme, the pre-master's programme and the European Master in Health Economics and Management.
Bachelor's: Dr Daniëlle Cattel
Dr Daniëlle Cattel (associate professor in the Department of Health Systems & Insurance) was appointed programme director of the Bachelor at ESHPM from 15 June.
With this, she leads the three-year Health Sciences programme and is co-responsible for cross-programme issues in education at ESHPM.
Daniëlle: “From the moment I started at ESHPM as a student assistant, it hit me: put me in a teaching setting and I am in my element. I am honoured to now be able to dedicate myself to high-quality teaching from this role.”
Pre-master's: Dr Welmoed van Deen
On 1 July, Dr Welmoed van Deen started as the new Programme Director for our Pre-master!
Welmoed brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Among other things, she was previously online coordinator of the ESHPM pre-master and for the past two years she did a fellowship at the Community for Learning & Innovation in which she researched teacher well-being in the context of online/hybrid education.
In addition to her role as Programme Director, she teaches at our bachelor's, pre-master's and Health Care Management master’s programmes. She also conducts research on learning healthcare systems.
European Master's in Health Economics and Management (Eu-HEM): Dr Frederick Thielen
As of 1 June, Dr Frederick Thielen (Assistant Professor at the Health Technology Assessment department) has been appointed as International Programme Director of the Eu-HEM programme.
With this position, he is heading the two-year European Master in Health Economics and Management programme for ESHPM together with his colleagues from University of Oslo, MCI Innsbruck and Università di Bologna.
Frederick: “Had I known about this master's programme a few years earlier, I would have applied to study it myself. It truly is an incomparable study programme, offering unique opportunities to study abroad and gain extensive knowledge. I am excited to get started and contribute to this exceptional programme.”
