Looking back on the symposium ‘Are all QALYs equal?'

On September 16 2019, the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management organised the symposium ‘Are all QALYs equal? Past, present and future of equity weighting.’

After Werner Brouwer (Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management) opened the symposium, Jan van Busschbach (Erasmus MC and member of the Adviescommissie Pakket), Jan Abel Olsen (Universiteit van Tromsø, Noorwegen), Sylvia Vijgen (Zorginstituut Nederland) and Vivian Reckers-Droog (Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management) addressed the issue of ‘priority setting in the allocation of healthcare resources’. This issue concerns decisions regarding the content of the basic health insurance package and the equity considerations that are considered relevant in these decisions.
