In the past two months we hosted the first two ESHPM alumni events of the year. In April, we organised the Students Meet Alumni afternoon, and on the 14th of May we held the fourth edition of the Alumni Dinner.
Health Talk x Students Meet Alumni
In the previous two years we had occasionally consulted members of SHARE (the study association for ESHPM students) to discuss our plans for the Beyond Your Degree: Students Meet Alumni event for students to make sure it fits their needs. This year SHARE was actively involved in the organisation and conceptualisation of the event. Due to the busy calendars of both parties, we decided to combine our event with SHARE’s annual Health Talks.
This meant that to start with, the event had two plenary Health Talks on the topic of ‘Paving the way to our sustainable future’, given by our own Prof. Erik van Raaij (Professor of Sustainable Procurement in Healthcare) and Noah Drummen (Sustainability Consultant at AAG). Following the Health Talks, we had two rounds of three sessions, given by alumni from a variety of work fields. The alumni shared their experiences post-graduation from ESHPM, their career paths and what their current jobs entailed.
The aim of the event was to provide students of all years with a better idea of what possible paths lie ahead of them, after their time at ESHPM. The feedback we've received from students has been very positive, and we look forward to collaborating with the next Board of SHARE to repeat the event again next year.
Once again, a huge thank you to all the alumni who volunteered their time to contribute to this valuable event!
Alumnidiner
After having had previous dinners at the Zalmhuis and twice at the Stadshaven Brouwerij Rotterdam, we were after a change of scenery. So this year's edition of the Alumni Dinner took place at Dudok aan de Maas (previously Café Rotterdam), at the Kop van Zuid. This meant that during the delicious six-course walking dinner, the nearly 180 alumni present were also treated to a wonderful view of the Erasmus Bridge at sunset. For the first half of the event, we were even able to enjoy the big terrace on the Maas while the weather was still good.
Just before the dessert course, Marina van Weele (Head of the ESHPM Alumni Office) hosted a quiz on MentiMeter, where we tested the alumni's knowledge of current events in healthcare as well as the recent research from ESHPM that was featured in the media. The guests got very competitive and involved with the quiz and the winner was ecstatic.
We look back on two wonderful events and look forward to welcoming you to our next alumni event: a Homecoming Day on 11 October!
