From September 18-20, Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) welcomed 24 researchers from 8 countries as part of the Horizon Europe Support4Resilience (S4R) research project. Coordinated by the University of Stavanger in Norway, this initiative focuses on strengthening the resilience of healthcare organisations in elderly care.
The project aims to develop, implement, and evaluate a research-based digital toolbox to help healthcare leaders promote resilient performance and mental well-being of healthcare workers and informal carers.
Rotterdam Meeting Highlights
During the three-day meeting, participants shared insights on elderly care policies and practices across different countries, engaged in qualitative data collection exercises, and reviewed preliminary findings on leadership, well-being, and resilience. In addition to academic discussions, we showcased the beauty of our city with a water taxi ride to dinner aboard the SS Rotterdam and a scenic lunch walk through the Trompenburg botanical gardens.
Addressing Workforce Challenges
S4R aligns closely with one of ESHPM’s themes from the investment agenda: Sustainable Healthcare and Workforce. All participating countries are facing increasing staff shortages, making the project’s focus on healthcare worker resilience more urgent than ever. "Resilience and well-being are crucial components of workforce sustainability," notes Iris Wallenburg, co-chair of the Sustainable Healthcare and Workforce theme and one of the researchers in the project.
