We are pleased to announce that Dr. Elly Stolk has been appointed as Professor of Measurement and Valuation of Health at Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM), Erasmus University, Rotterdam. This is a part-time (one day/week) position funded by the EuroQol Research Foundation, where Elly will develop and strengthen research and teaching programmes, and supervise graduate students on health measurement and valuation.
Dean Prof. Maarten IJzerman shares his excitement about the appointment by emphasising the long-standing collaboration between EuroQol and ESHPM: “The significant impact EuroQol has had globally makes me proud to see this relation strengthened." Researchers from ESHPM were among the founding members of EuroQol, and several ESHPM researchers are EuroQol members. Elly started her academic career in 1998 at ESHPM, where she was assistant professor from 2008 to 2016 and has co-directed the Erasmus Choice Modelling Centre since 2014.
Elly is delighted and honoured to take up this new role in the general topic area of measuring and valuing health: “My research and teaching will contribute to the primary goal of health care; to improve population health. Valid measurement and valuation of health is warranted to judge value add of new interventions and to explore variability and factors that drive ill health. My research will thus contribute to health technology assessment, health economics and health inequality research, which are prominent research fields of ESHPM. I am very grateful to Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management and EuroQol for making this possible.”
This professorship was established at ESHPM with the support from EuroQol to strengthen the existing collaborations, coordinate the expertise areas and research interests of ESHPM and EuroQol, and further develop ESHPM activities in the area of measurement and valuation of health.
