Beyond Your Degree: Students Meet Alumni

The degrees that Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) offers are multidisciplinary: after your studies there are many directions you can go in. Do you know which industries you could work in and which jobs might be available for you? Or are you already aware of the possibilities out there, but find it hard to make up your mind?

Especially for ESHPM students we are organising an afternoon where we've invited alumni from our School from a variety of different fields to tell their stories. The alumni are working at, among others, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, Erasmus MC, Boer & Croon, Changes GGZ and DSW Verzekeringen. Career Services will also be present to give you advice on how to make a decision (regarding your future): how do you choose something that suits you? Would you like to be inspired? Sign up now!  

What: presentations by ESHPM alumni, the possibility to get to know alumni, followed by an informal drinks reception 
Who: both bachelor and master students (NL/EN) 
Where: J7, Bayle Building  
When: Wednesday 19 April 2023, 14.45 until 18.00  

The afternoon will consist of different rounds for which you can sign up. We will end the afternoon with some drinks and snacks (17.00 - 18.00), during which you can continue the conversation with the alumni present.  

Please note: most alumni sessions will be given in Dutch. In the registration form you can see which sessions are in Dutch (NL) or English (EN). 

Pharmaceutical Industry 

  • Yixuan Shang did her master’s degree in Health Care Management at ESHPM and graduated in 2021. Currently she is working in a consultancy firm (Accenture) and specialises in the pharmaceutical industry.

Consultancy

  • Pauline Gabriëls completed her degree in Health Care Management at ESHPM in 2018. After finishing her master’s, she has worked as a Team Leader and Healthcare Analyst at OLVG. Right now, she is working as a Manager Healthcare at Boer & Croon.

  • Marco Kleijburg did both a pre-master’s and master’s degree at ESHPM and graduated in 2020 from ZoMa. Before his time at ESHPM, he has worked as a nurse in HagaZiekenhuis Den Haag and Bergman Clinics B.V. After finishing his master’s, he worked at Zorg & Zekerheid. He is currently active as a Consultant at Oldenburg Bonsèl & Associates.

Hospitals

  • Tessa Govers got her bachelor’s degree, as well as master’s degree (HEPL), at ESHPM. She graduated in 2021. During her studies she was also active at SHARE. She works as a DBC Advisor at the Erasmus Medical Center.

  • Arjan Holthaus did completed his master’s degree in Health Care Management at ESHPM in 2019. He has worked in several advisory roles at different healthcare institutions (Waterlandziekenhuis, Westfriesgasthuis, Dijklander Ziekenhuis). He is currently working as a Senior Advisor at Erasmus MC. He works together with Tessa Govers.

PhD

  • Marjolein Simonis did her master’s degree at ESHPM in Health Economics, Policy & Law and graduated in 2020. In June 2021 she started a PhD at ESHPM. Her research concerns fraud practices in healthcare.

Insurance Industry

  • Jethro Nooitmeer did his bachelor's degree at ESHPM and did a Research Master in Health Sciences at the Erasmus MC Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES). He graduated in 2020. He has been working as a Data Analyst Medically Specialised Healthcare at DSW Zorgverzekeraar.
  • Charlotte Veldhuis did her premaster at ESHPM and subsequently completed her master’s degree in Health Economics. She graduated in 2022. Before her master’s she worked as an Anesthesiologist. Since 2022 she has been working at DSW Zorgverzekeraar together with Jethro, as an Account Manager Medisch Specialistische Zorg.

Governmental institutions

  • Daan van Hoof studied at ESHPM for both his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree (Eu-HEM) and graduated in 2021. During his studies he was active at SHARE. Right now, he is working at the Ministry of Health, Well Being and Sport as a Policy Officer at the COVID-19 Programme.
  • Amarens Geuzinge followed her master’s degree (HEPL) at ESHPM and graduated in 2017. After finishing her master’s, she did her PhD at Erasmus MC and is now working as a Pharmacoeconomics Advisor at Zorginstituut Nederland.

Long-term care and mental healthcare institutions

  • Louise Versteeg completed both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree (HCM) at ESHPM. She graduated in 2020. She now works as a Quality Officer at Changes GGZ, an organisation that treats people with an addiction or eating disorder.
  • Cassandra van den Berg graduated from ESHPM in 2003. After graduating she worked as a Consultant, Policy Advisor and Project Manager at different healthcare institutions. Since 2022 she is working as the Programme Director Healthcare Innovation and Quality at Florence.

Career Services: How to make career choices
How do you make choices? Life is full of choices, smaller and bigger ones. Making choices for your future is definitely one of the bigger ones and can be a challenge. Mervyn Nankoe from Career Services will bring us along in the process of making decisions and will share some practical tips on how to make a good choice.
