What does this study entail?
The step to a research university such as Erasmus University Rotterdam can be quite big. There are more reading materials, which are of higher complexity than what you might be used to. You are expected to work more independently and conduct your own research projects.
The pre-master helps you develop the skills and competences you need to pursue the master's degree. You will become acquainted with the basics of cultural economics, research methodology, innovation, cultural industries, and the organisation of the cultural sector. You will then train your essential academic skills such as arguing, using sources and academic writing. Finally, you will also improve your research skills, such as setting up a research project, conducting analysis, and reporting your findings.
Bridging the knowledge gap
The pre-master helps you to bridge both the study load and the knowledge gap between your prior education and our master specialisation Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship. In the first term, you will be introduced to economic theories and aspects and policy within the cultural sector. Throughout those courses you will follow lectures and you will work in small groups during tutorials, to fully grasp the learning materials.
