prof.dr. RJ (Robbert-Jan) Adriaansen

Biography

Robbert-Jan Adriaansen is the executive director of the Center for Historical Culture at Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Endowed Chair Historical Culture in Transition at Ghent University. He received his PhD cum laude from the same university in 2013. Adriaansen's research focuses on conceptions of history and historical consciousness, in the past and in the present. In 2015 he published the monograph The Rhythm of Eternity: The German Youth Movement and the Experience of the Past, 1900-1933 (Berghahn, 2015). His current research focuses on the impact of digitization on historical consciousness, historical culture, and history education.
