How can we make positive change in the music sector?

Frank Kimenai curates ESNS Science 2024 programme

Continuing his role as curator, Frank Kimenai, PhD candidate at ESHCC, presents the 2024 programme of the ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) Science Conference. With the conference the aim is to reveal how science can be used to imagine a brighter, more equitable future and build a roadmap for the sector to change course. The sessions of the annual event will take place from 18 to 19 January in Groningen.

This year, the ESNS science programme includes several panels and sessions for attendees to expand their knowledge on industry-leading topics and innovation. Frank himself will moderate two sessions during the conference, the first one being Sowing the Seeds of Change. The second session he will moderate is Popular Music and Activism: Agents of Change, in which the role of music in mobilizing and getting messages across is explored. Other sessions during the event will address topics such as building better live music ecosystems in European cities and what organisations can do to improve and promote the mental health of the workforce.
