Camila Malig Jedlicki, Naomi Oosterman (Department of Arts and Culture Studies), and Rodrigo Christofoletti (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora) have published a call for abstracts for the forthcoming edited volume titled: Negotiating Decolonisation in Latin America: Colonial Heritage, Conflict, and Contestation.
The editors are looking for submissions that focus on decolonial practices and cultural heritage in Latin American and the Caribbean that provide novel perspectives on local, national, and regional perspectives of decolonisation. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts that fit within the following broad topics:
- Colonial heritage and decolonisation
- Decolonisation and soft power
- (Neo)colonialism and cultural heritage
- Restitution and/or repatriation
- Indigenous and African heritage
- Symbolic and political violence
- Decontextualisation of cultural heritage
- Inequality and social hierarchy
- (Cultural) policy and management
- Decolonial strategies in institutions
- Colonial transitions
- Iconoclasm
- Looting
- National and regional strategies for the protection of cultural heritage
- Illicit movement of cultural heritage
- Trafficking of cultural goods
Submissions can be from the fields of sociology, cultural studies, (critical) heritage studies, cultural policy and related disciplines. Abstract should be max. 350 words and submitted before 15 February 2022 to maligjedlicki@eshcc.eur.nl. For more information please read the attached call.
