What does this study entail?

Global Markets, Local Creativities (GLOCAL) is an integrated, international programme exploring the history, theory, institutions, and cultures of global capitalism. It is a combination of social sciences and humanities approaches. You will receive a theoretical grounding in international business and the global economy and will be encouraged to think critically about the respective roles of individuals, firms, cities, regions, nations and international bodies in determining and shaping the world in which we live.

You will study the rise of global cities, focusing on socio-economic challenges and transformations in urban life, learning to analyse these changes through both historical and digital humanities methods. The program also examines the intricate relationship between heritage, fashion, and storytelling, highlighting how traditional craftsmanship and modern technologies shape the fashion industry today. The programme approaches local competitiveness from an evolutionary development perspective that takes into account the advantages and disadvantages of current-day globalisation.

Additionally, you will engage with the histories of diversities, developing core skills in oral history, interviewing, and visual source analysis to uncover and communicate the recent history of marginalised groups.
