Appointment with a career advisor

At Career Services of Erasmus University Rotterdam, we are here to support you at every step of your career development. Whether you're just starting your studies, about to graduate, or have recently graduated, our career coaches offer tailored guidance and advice.

Career appointments are free and available to all EUR students and alumni up to one year after graduation.

Career development often starts with self-awareness: understanding your values, motivations, and skills. During a one-on-one appointment of about 45 minutes, our coaches help you gain clarity about who you are, what you find important, and where your strengths lie. You will also receive support with a variety of questions and challenges, such as:

  • Career orientation: Discover which career paths align best with your studies and interests.
  • Application preparation: Get help writing a compelling cover letter, CV, or preparing for interviews.
  • Networking advice: Learn how to network effectively, both online and offline, and build valuable professional connections.
  • Personal development: Discuss your personal goals, challenges, and learn how to deal with stress and uncertainty about your future.

To get the most out of your career appointment, it's helpful to think about your questions or goals beforehand. Do you have specific career opportunities you’d like to discuss? Are you struggling to find an internship or job? It can also be useful to bring along your CV or cover letter if you want feedback on them. The better prepared you are, the more value you'll get from the conversation.

No matter what your career question is, we are here to support you and work with you toward a successful future.

Walking coaching is an accessible way to work on your career questions with a coach, all while literally being in motion. Instead of a traditional conversation at a desk, you and your coach head outside for a walk. As you walk, the fresh air and movement help you organize your thoughts and see your future from new perspectives. Whether you’re struggling with study choices, career planning, or just feeling stuck in your thoughts, walking coaching provides the space to relax and discover new insights. This makes it easier to reflect on your future and the steps you want to take.

  • Movement helps thinking: Walking helps to clear your mind and gives energy to explore new ideas.
  • Relaxed atmosphere: The informal setting ensures that conversations flow naturally, making you feel more at ease.
  • Deeper insights: Being outdoors allows you to step away from everyday stress and gain fresh insights into your personal and professional life.

Our walking coaching sessions start on the Woudestein campus of Erasmus University Rotterdam. From there, we explore the green and peaceful surroundings around the campus or the nearby Kralingse Bos. This natural environment offers a refreshing break from daily routines and helps clear your mind, leading to new insights.
