Analytical art

The scientists working together in EETI do research into economics and theology that is published in different media. Books, thematic volumes of journals, articles, papers and working papers are read inside and outside scientific circles. An overview of our most important publications is inserted below. A Dutch-language series of five books concerning Man, Enterprise and Leadership (Mens, Bedrijf en Leiderschap) has a pivotal place.

List of publications

EETI publishes a Dutch-language series of five books on people-oriented economics and corresponding leadership. The books each offer its own perspective on this topic.

  • Know, Trust, Serve (Kennen, Dienen, Vertrouwen): is the account of a search for people-oriented entrepreneurship in the 21st century. The three main principles of people-oriented entrepreneurship are consideration of all stakeholders, agapè | caritas | love as the primary motive and a drive for perfecting an imperfect world.
  • Man, Work and Economics in the light of Time (Mens, werk en economie in het licht van de tijd): is an attempt to describe the importance of time for organizations. It turns out that it is not clock time, but experienced time that matters.
  • Human imperfection & striving for perfection (De onvolkomenheid van de mens & het streven naar perfectie): presents the paradoxical insight that acknowledgement of the own imperfection is a necessary step for a good life and entrepreneurship.
  • Simultaneous promotion of interests (Simultaan behartigen van belangen): poses that economics is not only the art of economizing, but also of collaborating. This requires organizations to serve the interests of different stakeholders at the same time, in such a way that a win-win-win outcome originates.
  • Agapè | Caritas in business (Agapè | Caritas in bedrijf): explains the central role of love in business, and illustrates the practice of love business by different case studies.

Another central theme which has the interest of the EETI scientists, is 'Motives'. The economic motives and incentives which are usually studied by economists, are after all not the only motives and rationales for economic actions. Several other motives contend at different levels. The economically acting human being is significantly less rational than the homo economicus. With insights from theology, philosophy and psychology we gain and reveal knowledge about these motives and processes. The results of this research have been published in, among other things, a series of thematic volumes of the Dutch-language journal Management & Organisatie. Of course, our research continues, and new publications will follow track.
