Next week in Cluj, Romania, a Hungarian translation of the handbook of Christian Dogmatics by Prof. Kees van der Kooi and Prof. Gijsbert van den Brink will be presented.
Kees van der Kooi is a distinguished lecturer at the EETI (Erasmus Economics and Theology Institute) at Erasmus University Rotterdam and emeritus professor of the Faculty of Religion and Theology at VU Amsterdam. It is the fourth language in which this book appears. In addition to the Dutch edition (2012, now in sixth edition), there is an English and Spanish translation. Translations into Chinese and Ukrainian are in preparation.
When asked about the reason for its success, Professor Van der Kooi says: It is a contemporary and internationally oriented theological handbook that introduces the student and interested reader to the questions of faith and theology. It encourages the reader to think for himself and to make connections, also to the world of law and economics. It apparently fills a need. There is a hunger for it. In 2012 we offered the book to Pope Francis, a real headstart!
