6th European Neo-Calvinism Conference 2024 on ‘Neo-Calvinism and Capitalism’

Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit

This conference is devoted to the engagement of Neo-Calvinism with modern capitalism. This relationship will be explored from several perspectives. Firstly historically, the rise and development of Neo-Calvinist socio-economic thought—roughly from “Groen to Goudzwaard,” but also in its international transmission in the 20th and 21st century—will be considered. Secondly philosophically and theologically, the question will be addressed how Neo-Calvinist thought on these issues should be evaluated. What is its use for contemporary challenges such as increasing inequality and climate change? About twenty presenters from institutions all over the world will present a short paper on a wide array of topics related to the conference theme.

Costs: € 50 (meals not included). Friday dinner optional (additional costs).

Date: 29-30 Augustus 2024

Location: Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Hoofdgebouw, Forum 2 (1D-06)
